Experiential Learning

Four walls can’t contain an entire education.  That’s why, at Richmond, most students extend their educations by participating in experiential learning opportunities.  They’re the chance to take what you’ve learned in the classroom and apply it to the real world, either via research, an internship or studying abroad.

Internships

Students interested in establishing a religiously oriented career may choose to intern at a local church or other religious center. Other students may be interested in gaining experience working in the non-profit sector.

For information on the range of internships available to religion students, contact the Career Development Center.

Study Abroad

Studying abroad will always enhance your education. This is especially true for religion majors who have studied world religion extensively but have perhaps never had the opportunity to see firsthand how religion is practiced around the world. The Department of Religion is committed to helping students design their curriculum so that a semester or year spent abroad doesn’t keep them from accomplishing their other academic goals.
